Personalized dynamic therapy that meets you where you are and helps you find your way through. You are not alone.
Short-Term Therapy and Intensives Available
Weller Counseling offers treatment options designed to holistically address the needs of each client.
Clients can schedule short-term weekly sessions or opt for a therapy intensive, which is an accelerated form of therapy for those seeking more immediate relief within a shorter time frame.
Why Intensives? Instead of attending therapy one hour per week for a year, you can accelerate your healing by carving out just a few days for a therapy intensive. It’s a cutting-edge approach to help people feel better faster. Therapy intensives offer an accelerated approach to help people feel better sooner. Intensives are a great option for people with busy schedules, or anyone who is ready to feel lighter now.
In fact, many people think of therapy intensives like a retreat. It’s a time for you to unplug, take time off work, get a babysitter, or even stay in a cozy mountain cabin or luxurious hotel.
This time is completely dedicated to you, so that you can focus on healing, reflecting, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have been dormant.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Therapy Intensives are perfect for people who are ready for relief now. If you’re ready to see things change in your life and in your relationships, but you don’t want to wait for that to happen months down the road, then a Therapy Intensive may be right for you.
If you have a specific topic, trauma, or stressor that you want support with, this can be the focus of your Therapy Intensive. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your goals.
-
Therapy Intensives are more effective and efficient than normal 50-minute therapy sessions. Typically in a 50-minute session, there is at least 5-10 minutes of a “check-in” at the start of the session and 5-10 minutes spent on “closing up” or “checking out” at the end of a session, which leaves only 30-40 minutes for deep therapeutic work.
Therapy Intensives are different. A 3-hour Therapy Intensive allows for up to 2.5 hours of deep work. That’s the equivalent of five 50-minute sessions–or more than a month of therapy–in a single day!
-
Great question! This depends on your goals for the Therapy Intensive. Some goals can be reached in a 1-Day Intensive (3 hours), but other goals are more complex and may require a 3-Day Intensive.
I can help you determine the number of days that would work best for your therapy goals.
-
Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy.
I would ask that you sign a Release of Information (ROI) so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.
-
Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the Therapy Intensive.
It’s best to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to learn the details about your specific plan.
Make sure to ask questions like:
Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services?
Have I met my deductible?
What CPT billing codes do you reimburse (i.e. 90837 or two 90843 in one day)?
What is the rate of reimbursement for each billing code?
What is the allowable amount for reimbursement?
Here is a helpful resource:
-
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your Therapy Intensive.
The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive Session. -
Let’s schedule a time to talk! I’m happy to answer any questions and explore your unique situation to see if a Therapy Intensive may be helpful for you.
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Therapy Specializations
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy focused on helping individuals heal from deeply distressing experiences that continue to affect their lives in profound ways. Trauma therapy offers insight into the neurobiological roots of intense reactions, provides a path to calm your reactions, and equips you with practical tools to ease painful memories that keep you feeling stuck and isolated. Short-term weekly sessions (3-10 sessions) and Trauma-focused therapy intensives are available.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool that offers a safe space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may be difficult to express otherwise. Storytelling can give voice to your inner experiences, help you gain clarity and uncover meaning in your struggles. Writing can also create a healthy distance from overwhelming emotions, allowing for deeper reflection, insight, and healing. Narrative therapy fosters self-awareness, resilience, and emotional release through creativity. Short-term individual weekly sessions (8-week program) are available. Half- and full-day Creative Writing workshops also available for small groups.
Parent Support
Attachment-focused parent support provides opportunities for profound healing and growth, even in the darkest seasons of the parenting journey. Parenting support focuses on deepening your connection to your child, unraveling difficult relationship patterns, and exploring practical and accessible tools to navigate the current challenges in your family. Parenting support is available for both individuals and couples, and can encompass parenting challenges from infancy to adulthood. Short-term weekly sessions (3-10 sessions) and Parent Support therapy intensives are available.
Equine-Assisted Therapy
Equine-assisted therapy harnesses the intuitive connection between humans and horses to support healing and growth. Horses respond to human emotions with great sensitivity, offering a low-pressure, nonjudgmental space to recognize and shift painful patterns in your life. Equine-assisted therapy can help you learn to work compassionately with anxiety, anger, and relationship challenges, while also creating space to release negative beliefs and routines that no longer serve you well. Therapy intensives that exclusively focus on Equine-assisted experiences are available, and Equine-assisted therapy services can also be integrated into other available offerings to deepen the therapeutic experience.
